Roberts Family Development Center (2025–2026)

Humanbulb was selected to develop and implement a STEM enrichment series for RFDC’s youth afterschool program.

  • Participants explored electrical circuits and safety through a hands-on wiring project, learning wire preparation, outlet installation, grounding principles, and breaker box connections.

  • Participants built electric robots while learning circuit fundamentals and energy conversion. The session connected electrification to climate solutions including:

    • Transportation electrification
    • Vehicle-to-grid technology
    • Demand flexibility & smart devices
    • Energy-efficient appliances
    • Distributed energy resources

  • Participants built a functional wind turbine with an electric generator and adjustable blades, conducting experiments to optimize performance and generate usable electricity.

  • Participants learned how solar energy works and constructed solar-powered cars, exploring renewable energy conversion through design and testing.

  • Participants examined biomass as a renewable energy source, exploring its role in emissions reduction and renewable natural gas production. Hands-on experiments used fruits and vegetables to power small devices.
