A free 3-session indoor STEM & Sustainability program! Dive into the science behind our local sewer system through hands-on activities, focusing on environmental protecting and careers that support a more sustainable future.

About the Program

“The Hidden Network” introduces participants to the unseen systems that keep our communities healthy and sustainable.

Through interactive challenges and build-based projects, participants will learn how wastewater is managed, treated, and transformed. A hands-on opportunity to explore pathways into green technology and environmental careers.

Program Sessions

Session 1: Sewer System Simulation

  • Simulate blockages in mock sewer systems and learn about proper waste disposal

Session 2: Wastewater Treatment

  • Build water filtration models to understand how sewage is cleaned.

Session 3: Resource Recovery

  • Simulate biogas to see how SacSewer recovers valuable resources from sewage.

Program Details

  • Ages 12-20

  • Format: Indoor, hands-on sessions

  • Duration: 3 hours per session

  • Cost: FREE to attend

  • No prior experience required

  • Participants will receive a $50 stipend for attending all three sessions!
